FABLE: An Interactive Multiplayer Edutainment Table
FABLE is an interactive, multiplayer edutainment platform designed to foster inclusive, collaborative learning among children with diverse abilities. The concept was inspired by traditional peer-to-peer interaction and reimagined through a digital, child-centered lens.
The design process began with field research at the Association of People with Disability in Bangalore, an inclusive school setting where real classroom observations and co-design activities with children and educators informed the prototype. Iterative prototyping played a central role: multiple design cycles allowed for continuous testing and refinement, ensuring accessibility, usability, and engagement across learners with varied needs.
The prototype currently features three interactive lessons that focus on sentence formation through storytelling. Each story topic was intentionally selected to connect with the children’s lived experiences, supporting relevance and motivation.
From a UX perspective, the project emphasized:
Co-design and user research with teachers and children to define requirements.
Iterative prototyping to test mechanics, refine interaction patterns, and improve accessibility.
Engagement through play by blending entertainment with learning tasks.
Looking ahead, FABLE has the potential to evolve with emerging technologies, offering richer multimodal interactions and expanding its library of inclusive learning experiences—bringing more children together around a shared, playful table.
